STUDIO POLICIES

Our policies are intended to ensure that every student receives the highest quality of dance and performing arts education. Our mission to guide and inspire our dancers also encourages leadership, respect, and discipline—these principles are vital for success in the arts.

GETTING STARTED

REGISTRATION

Placement in class will be held upon receipt of the $25 registration fee ($35 for families). Once classes are full, a waiting list will be maintained to accommodate other students when space is available. A registration is not considered complete and class space is not reserved until this fee is paid.

TUITION

Tuition is due on the first of each month. Payments can be made online through your CompuDance account or in person with cash, check (made payable to PDC), or credit card (plus 3% fee). Payments received after the 10th day of the month will be charged a $20 late fee.

FACULTY

Our faculty holds memberships in The Royal Academy of Dance, Dance Educators of America, and Acrobatic Arts, and have college degrees from The University of Akron, Point Park University, and Slippery Rock University. All faculty members attend ongoing education programs, seminars, and workshops as a regular part of the teacher’s regimen.

RECITAL

If you will not be in the recital, please notify the front desk and/or your instructor as soon as possible. Students who do not plan on performing in the recital will finish their classes at the end of February.

COSTUME FEES

A $60 non-refundable costume deposit (per class, unless otherwise specified) is due by November 1. Shining Stars classes only require one deposit. The remaining costume balance of $25 (per class) is due by February 1.

IN THE CLASSROOM

BEHAVIOR

Students must be on their best behavior while taking class. They must be respectful of the instructor and their classmates. Dancers must ask permission before leaving class for any reason, and they must never text, eat, or chew gum during class. They should always be prepared for class with proper dance attire, shoes, and their hair up.

ATTENDANCE

Attendance is taken at the beginning of each class, and recognition is given at the end of the year for those who earn perfect attendance. Classes cannot be made up for this award. Good attendance is imperative, and the month leading up to the recital is of utmost importance. Absences and tardiness can hold an entire class back. Although we understand that illness is inevitable, please make every effort to have your child(ren) at their classes.

AT-HOME PRACTICE

Practice plays a vital role in class advancement. As recital dances get started, our dance educators will email the edited music to everyone. Videos of choreography are available upon request.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Private lessons are $30 per half hour. Cash, check, and Venmo payments are accepted and must be made directly to the instructor prior to each lesson. Private lessons that are canceled with less than a 24-hour notice will still be charged.

STAY UP-TO-DATE

MONTHLY NEWSLETTERS

An informational newsletter will be emailed at the beginning of each month. Please be sure to check your email regularly, read the newsletters carefully, and ask questions.

BULLETIN BOARD

Information on all activities will be posted on our bulletin board. Miss a newsletter? The most current one will also be posted here. Please check the board periodically for updated information.

HOLIDAY BREAKS

The studio will be closed for the observance of the following holidays during the 2023/2024 season:

Thanksgiving: November 17–26

Christmas: December 19–January 1

Easter: March 22–31

SNOW DAYS

In the event of inclement weather, the studio may choose to cancel classes. Since the roads are often clear by the afternoon, we may choose to remain open even though schools may have closed. Everyone will be notified by email and the Remind App, and we will post updates on our social media.
